Road work snarling traffic in Pueblo

Traffic was backed up for miles through Pueblo Monday--andexpect the same on Tuesday--because of construction by the Colorado Department of Transportation. CDOT is resurfacing a small segment at Ilex Ave.
On Tuesday, the right lane will be closed both northbound and southbound. Also, the ramp from northbound I-25 to Ilex Avenue will be closed. Construction hours are 7 am - 7pm.
CDOT says the work could not be scheduled during night hours because lower temperatures are not favorable for placement of this type of surface treatment.
CDOT is installing a high friction material through this curved segment to increase traction. This is experimental and will be analyzed for before and after results.
