Police say the wife of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs in New York's Hudson Valley.

The arrest comes one month after Mary Kennedy's license was suspended following her guilty plea to driving while impaired by alcohol.

State police say Kennedy initially was pulled over Saturday for speeding on the Taconic State Parkway in Dutchess County.

Kennedy's lawyer, Kerry Lawrence, told The Journal News, "We look forward to defending the charges against Miss Richardson Kennedy."

Mary Kennedy is scheduled to appear in Pleasant Valley Town Court on Thursday.

She settled her drunken-driving case from May without jail time by pleading guilty last month to a lesser charge.
