Research links smoking and hair dye to liver disease

New research finds both smoking and hair dye increase the risk of liver disease.

After studying thousands of patients with early stage cirrhosis, British researchers found they were 63 percent more likely to have smoked at some point in their lives than their healthy peers.

When women were singled out, those who used hair dye were 37 percent more likely to develop PBC than those in the comparison group.
