Republicans in the Denver suburbs are gathering to narrow the field aiming to challenge Democratic Rep. Ed Perlmutter.

Republicans in the 7th Congressional District are meeting in Golden on Thursday night to decide who will make primary ballots against Perlmutter. The candidates include Aurora City Councilman
Ryan Frazier and Arvada pilot Lang Sias.

Four Republicans are seeking the nomination, but the party allows a maximum of three candidates on primary ballots. Candidates need 30 percent of assembly votes Thursday to make the ballots. If more than one candidate makes the cut, the nominee will be chosen in an Aug. 10 primary.

Perlmutter is seeking a third term and has no Democratic opposition.
