Reporter leads Colo. freedom of information group

DENVER (AP) - Former Denver Post reporter Jeffrey A. Roberts has been named executive director of the Colorado Freedom of information Coalition.

The appointment was announced Friday.

The coalition advocates for transparency in Colorado's state and local governments. The Associated Press is one of its member organizations.

Roberts will lead an effort to educate citizens and officials on the public's constitutional right to information about government institutions.

The coalition will build on previous work by the Colorado Freedom of Information Council.

Roberts covered the Legislature and edited computer-assisted reporting at The Post. He also helped produce a study on the long-term sustainability of Colorado's state government revenue while he was at the University of Denver's Center for Colorado's Economic Future.
