As many as 60 people were injured when one of the Staten Island Ferry boats struck a pier at the dock on Staten Island, WNBC reported Saturday.
Police and Fire Department officials say the injuries appeared to be minor. They were unsure how severe the accident was or how much damage was done to the ferry.
Some passengers were being taken by ambulance to area hospitals. Others were being bandaged and comforted by firefighters at the scene, according to the Associated Press.
The ferry runs across New York harbor between Manhattan and Staten Island.
In 2003, the same ferry - the Andrew J. Barberi - barreled into a pier, killing eleven people and injuring dozens, according to WNBC. The boat was out of service until July 2004.
