Rep. Doug Lamborn works closely with gravely injured Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. They serve together on the House Armed Services Committee. They have also co-sponsored 66 bills.
Rep. Lamborn told NewsFirst5 that he was sick when he heard about the shooting, but will not let this tragedy keep him from his constituents in Colorado Springs and southern Colorado, "Representative government depends on interaction between the people and their representatives and I have to hear from them and they want to hear from me. And it's a two-way street, so we have to make sure that continues."
The congressman said that security at future town hall meetings locally may be beefed-up.
