Rep. Betsy Markey passes on Congress debate

Democratic Congresswoman Betsy Markey is declining debates that don't include minor-party candidates - so her Republican opponent plans to show up alone to the taping of a candidate forum.

State Rep. Cory Gardner of Yuma says he'll be at Colorado Public Television Thursday afternoon for a debate.

But the incumbent he hopes to oust won't be there; Markey has said she will appear at debates only if two minor-party candidates also on ballots are included.

Gardner's campaign has accused Markey of dodging debates.

Markey's campaign staff says she simply wants to make sure all candidates on the ballot are included.
