Reminder: Furlough Friday for several state offices

Colorado state parks will remain open Friday, but many state offices will be closed for the last of eight furlough days ordered by Gov. Bill Ritter to save money.

State driver's license offices and state history museums will be among the facilities closed Friday, as about 15,500 executive branch employees take an unpaid furlough day. While state parks will be open, their administrative offices will be closed.

Ritter ordered eight furlough days for many state government executive branch offices for the fiscal year that ends June 30. Ritter's office says the unpaid closure days are saving the state an estimated $27.2 million as it deals with plunging tax revenue.
