Last minute preparations are underway for Wednesday's benefit concert A Community Rises to benefit victims of the Waldo Canyon Fire. Members of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic as well as other guest performers were rehearsing at the Colorado Springs World Arena Tuesday evening.

News 5 is proud to partner with the Colorado Springs Independent, Focus on the Family and the World Arena to present the free fundraiser featuring performances by the Philharmonic, Isaac Slade from the ban The Fray, Michael Martin Murphy, the Flying W Wranglers and Flash Cadillac.

Philharmonic president and CEO Nathan Newbrough says it's a giant undertaking given how quickly everything has come together.

"Normally, our concerts we plan 18 months in advance," Newbrough said. "To do something, really, it took 3 days, to do something from idea to launch for this concert and so to make that happen it takes partners."

Newbrough says many musicians were evacuated or displaced by the fire and nearly all are donating their time. News 5 anchor Lisa Lyden will serve as emcee and the concert will be simulcast over the air and here at KOAA.com beginning at 7:00 p.m.
