A Red Flag Warning is in effect for much of south central Colorado until 9 p.m. Tuesday. That means low humidity and strong winds, which increase the fire danger.
A cool front is on the way, but until then people should use extreme caution with outdoor fires.
The Red Flag Warning covers an area from El Paso County west to beyond Gunnison and south to the New Mexico state line. The warning also includes the mountains just west of Denver.
A level 2 fire ban is in effect Fremont County.
