The Pikes Peak Chapter of the American Red Cross has contacted the family of four who lost their home to a massive fire in Crystal Park Tuesday night. Spokesperson Catherine Barde said members of the agency's Disaster Action Team met with the family Tuesday afternoon to assess their needs and help them through the process of recovering from such a loss.

Floyd O'Neil of the Crystal Park Volunteer Fire Department said the family had recently purchased the home and were in the process of moving in.

An arson investigator with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office was brought in to search for evidence as to how and where the fire started and to determine whether further investigation is warranted.

Public Information Officer Lari Sevene said late Wednesday that the process is expected to take a couple of days.

The three bedroom home in the 1300 block of Sun Valley Lane caught fire sometime before 7:20 p.m. Tuesday and was completely consumed by flames. Fire fighters from six different agencies responded to the home and were able to keep the fire contained just to the building itself.
