Record rainfall in El Paso County has city and county experts checking for damage around Colorado Springs.
News 5's Weather Team says Wednesday's rainfall created an all-time precipitation record for September 14th. The Colorado Springs Airport recorded 4.5 inches of rain in a 24-hour span. Mike and Mike say it's one of the biggest rainfalls in their recent memories.
City officials say Colorado Springs has a 400 mile drainage system that will take some time to check. They don't have a damage estimate yet.
Eastern El Paso County also had parts with water rushing over and washing away parts of the roads.
News 5 will have details on the damage on Thursday's evening newscasts.
