TODAY: After yesterday's cooler temps the heat is back in a BIG way. Temps this afternoon will be about 10-12 degrees hotter than average. 94 today in Colorado Springs....the record high is 95. Pueblo will be hotter today than it has been on this date in 120 years! High temp of 102...the record is 100 and has stood since 1892! Skies today will be sunny most of the day...then we'll see a few afternoon clouds over the mountains and a couple on the plains. No showers today locally, but we might see a storm or two near Walsenburg, Trinidad and areas south from La Junta and Lamar to the New Mexico border. Be aware the fire danger is extreme again today. RED FLAG WARNING through this evening for areas west of I-25 AND El Paso, Lincoln, Elbert, Douglas, Adams and Arapahoe Counties!
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and not as cool. Temps should be about 4-8 degrees warmer tonight compared to this morning.
SATURDAY-SUNDAY: VERY hot and mostly dry. Temps this weekend will be as hot if not hotter than today. Fire danger will stay high to extreme, so no camp fires or barbeques in the mountains or areas where there will be more RED FLAG WARNINGS. The good news is, is that there will be at least a couple of isolated thundershowers over the mountains and higher elevations both days. About a 20% chance around places like the Rampart Range/Woodland Park & Cripple Creek.
MONDAY-WEDNESDAY: Excessive heat continues across eastern Colorado and so does the extreme fire danger! Temps will stay in the lower to mid 90's in the Springs and right around 100 or better for Pueblo! Minimal chance of any storms....just a couple possible over the mountains west of I-25.
Stay cool and have a great weekend!
