The head of Colorado's real estate division is stepping down after clashing with a state lawmaker and her own boss.
Erin Toll was suspended in March after she sparred with state Sen. Ted Harvey over a bill that would strip her of the power to oversee mortgage brokers. Toll then said Harvey, who is a mortgage broker, and his company were under investigation for advertising flyers that appeared to mislead consumers by looking like official tax documents.
The department says Harvey wasn't a target of the probe. Last month, Toll sued her boss, claiming her rights were violated by leaking word of the suspension and ordering her not to talk.
A Department of Regulatory Agencies spokesman says Toll's three month suspension and the subsequent lawsuit have been resolved in a settlement, but didn't have the terms of the deal. Her resignation is effective Monday.
