Stephanie McCroskey is getting the holiday shopping season underway; trying to cross some names off her lists by waiting in line at the Colorado Springs Toys "R" Us near Citadel Mall for sales beginning at 10 p.m. Many stores hold "door buster" sales after Thanksgiving, but many wait for the next day - known as Black Friday.
"I have three kids, so I'm here for quite a few things, but mainly the Netbook," says McCroskey; along with her mother, they were the first ones in line -- at 5 p.m.
It's been a chilly, five-hour wait, but they've had help.
"We got a delivery of blankets and chairs and coffee," says McCroskey.
Further down the line, Shanett Bamer came out an hour before doors open. These sales are part of a family ritual for her, and this won't be the only stop.
"...and then we'll go to Kohl's, opens at 4 a.m., and JC Penney's is at 5 a.m." says Bamer, explaining the plan.
It'll be a long night, but she came ready.
"This is the first cup, we have many more to come," says Bamer. She wants to finish the whole shopping list in one day.
