One bar and one restaurant in Colorado Springs will serve suspensions of their liquor licenses for serving an undercover, underage police informant. Both violations happened on September 23.
Amanda's Fonda Mexican restaurant on West Colorado Avenue will serve a one-day suspension on December 23. An employee served alcohol to a 19-year-old informant for the Metro Vice, Narcotics, Intelligence Division. The employee only worked at Amanda's Fonda for two weeks and was fired on October 8 for unrelated reasons. It is the first violation of liquor laws for Amanda's Fonda since it opened in 1997.
Rascals bar on B Street near Fort Carson will serve an 8-day suspension from December 23 through December 30. A bartender failed to ask for identification from the 19-year-old informant and served the informant and two other undercover detectives a beer. It was the second liquor violation for Rascals this year, but also just the second violation in 27 years, according to the bar's owner.
