Spotty showers will form through noon, especially in areas along the Palmer Divide near Colorado Springs and Monument and points west into Teller County. After noon, showers and thunderstorms will be more scattered in nature. While some spots will still miss the rain, more locations than yesterday will get at least a little bit of rain.
Temperatures will be cooler today than they have been. Expect upper 70's and lower 80's for most areas of Teller and El Paso Counties. Temps will top out in the upper 80's and lower 90's along and west of I-25 from the Arkansas River south. For the Plains, expect less rain and hotter upper 90's.
A cold front slipping south into our area will help to focus only spotty storms in the Plains, where a few landspout tornadoes are possible. Closer to the front range, high pressure behind the cold front will move in from the north and generate an upslope wind on its south side to help to bring that rain.
Moisture throughout the depth of the atmosphere will decrease drastically going into the weekend, so the odds of seeing rain will diminish in a huge way and temperatures will warm beginning Friday.
