It's incredibly stressful to hear that your child has been diagnosed with a life threatening condition. Perhaps it's because the stress is so great that finding someone to relate to is so comforting.

Providing that comfort is what the volunteers who make up Mended Little Hearts of Colorado Springs strive for each day. These moms and dads all have children who have been diagnosed with Congenital Heart Defects.

What started as simple conversations between parents in the hospital has become a formal support group. Though only officially organized as a non-profit organization in November, the young group has ambitious goals.

Watch News First 5 tonight 5:00 or check back later this afternoon to hear more about about a history making event they have set up this week to help spread their story.
