A large crowd came to Pueblo Railway Museum Railyard today to support a newly introduced bill. Rep. Leroy Garcia, of Pueblo introduced the Amtrak Southwest Chief bill last week, that's intended to save the Southwest Chief route which is a line that runs from Chicago to L.A. Amtrak has proposed dropping that line due to a decrease in riders. In addition to preserving the line, Garcia says he's also supporting the addition of a stop in Pueblo, which he believes will help the local economy.
Supporters hope CSU Pueblo will conduct a study next week to outline the economic impact of the potential Amtrak stop.
