Over the past several days Eva Lopez has been busy dropping off flyers at businesses around Pueblo. She estimates she been to more than 100 businesses so far. At each stop, she encourages owners to make a food or cash donations to the Pueblo Community Soup Kitchen. "It's close to my heart because my I know my family has been affected by this directly," said Lopez.
Lopez says her father was homeless when she was 10-years old. "My dad had actually lived on a school bus," she said. Her father frequently got his meals from the soup kitchen.
Lopez, who owns a clothing store called 25 Below, says her only goal is to help families who are struggling. "I've done this every year," said Lopez.
If you would like to make a donation, the Pueblo Community Soup Kitchen is located at 422 W. 7th St. in Pueblo. The soup kitchen is open from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m Monday through Saturday.
