The sign that welcomed people to Pueblo West for decades is gone, demolished yesterday as part of a road-widening project on McCulloch Blvd.
The sign was originally the west end of an arch that had been taken down years ago. It featured a large mosaic showing Lake Pueblo with a mountain in the background.
Rick Morgan, with the Pueblo West Metropolitan District said an ongoing road construction project at McCulloch and Highway 50 required the sign come down.
Pueblo West residents have been dealing with repaving on McCulloch for months and it's about to get worse. Detours at McCulloch and Highway 50 will be in place within the next two weeks.
