A Pueblo West senior citizen will stand trial next July in the murder of a 14 year old neighbor.

Paul Stark, 65, was arrested shortly after the body of Ashley Patterson was found in a muddy field in Pueblo West last March.

Sheriff's deputies were led to Stark's home by tire tracks. In a hearing Thursday, the defense argued that much of the evidence recovered from Stark's home and truck, as well as statements made to deputies should not be allowed at the trial. Friday afternoon Judge Victor Reyes ruled voluntary statements made by Stark before he was advised of his rights are admissable in court. Judge Reyes also ruled evidence like dried mud removed from the tire treads on Stark's truck which appear to match the treadmarks found near the body could also be admitted as evidence.

A picture of a possible bite mark on Stark's hand will not be allowed as evidence when the trial begins on July 13.
