The United Way of Pueblo County is asking you to open up your hearts and pocket books. On Wednesday a big crowd gathered at the Pueblo Convention Center as the organization kicked off its 2010 fundraiser.

Their goal is to raise $975,000 during the campaign--that's $17,000 more than last year, which was a record setting campaign.

Heart-shaped balloons and desserts highlighted the theme of the event. "Our Pueblo community is the pulse that keeps individuals in need alive right now and they're very generous," said Andrea Aragon, President and CEO of the United Way of Pueblo County. "We just want to ask people to look into their hearts and to warm the hearts of others through their generosity," she added.

Donations raised by the United Way help support dozens of non-profit organizations and programs throughout Pueblo County.
