The Pueblo Education Association and Pueblo City Schools (District 60) released a joint statement Tuesday declaring impasse on a new contract. Five times the two sides have met, but they have not been able to agree on several issues.
Points of contention include teacher work load, student discipline, wages and language of school reform. Both sides did agree to open negotiations in October to discuss insurance contributions after more information is available from Kaiser Permanente.
Pueblo Education Association and the District will now go to mediation with a Federal Mediator.
If the parties are unable to reach agreement in Mediation, the next step in the process will be Fact Finding with an arbitrator.
