In Pueblo, a second grader who wrote song about Colorado has earned an exciting opportunity. Isobel McGivney from Fountain International Magnet School, composed a piano song as part of a statewide contest. The assignment was to create an original piece of work based on the theme "My Colorado."
McGivney says one part of the her song is meant to sound like sunshine hitting the mountains. Another section represents the sound of rain drops falling on a rooftop. "I just call it Colorado because there's no other good name for it, because it's about Colorado and it was for the contest and I don't think I should call it anything else. Colorado is a good name for it," said McGivney.
McGivney won the contest and get this. Now her entire class and chaperons get to attend governor elect John Hickenlooper's inauguration next Tuesday. They'll also have lunch with the governor and visit an art museum.
