The National Academies of Emergency Dispatch has recognized the Pueblo Sheriff's Office Communications Center as an Accredited Center of Excellence.
Before the center was able to apply for accreditation, the Communications Officers had to reach a standard of care of 95 percent compliance with the protocols. For over a year, nearly every incoming medical call to PCSO 911 was reviewed for customer service and medical protocol compliance. The standards then had to be tracked to demonstrate consistency. A site-audit was performed in February.
The ACE award will be presented next month in Baltimore. Sheriff Taylor and the Communications Center supervisors and staff received official word today, "It is no surprise to me that the auditors were so impressed with our communications center and its members. I am in awe of the standard of care set in the 911 center, and am very proud of the men and women who handle such a difficult job with such professionalism and compassion," said Sheriff Taylor.
