PUEBLO - Applications are being accepted for the open city council seat in Pueblo. Councilman at Large Chris Kaufman resigned last week amid criticism that he and two other council members broke state sunshine laws during an email conversation with the county transportation director.
Pueblo residents interested in filling the seat must submit a letter of interest and resume Pueblo City Clerk Gina Dutcher by September 5, 2014. Council will interview the top applicants during a televised work session September 22 and appoint the new council member at their meeting October 6th.
Whomever fill the vacant seat will serve through the next city wide general election in November of 2015. They would need to run for re-election to keep the seat for the remaining two years of Kaufman's term.
