A Pueblo Police Officer was shot twice this morning before returning fire and killing a suspect on Pueblo's south side.
The officer was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
It started at about 6:45 a.m. when police got a call about a man on a bicycle with a gun, shooting out car windows near Hollywood and Canterbury Lane.
An officer found the suspect behind a business in the 2000 block of Columbia Drive, near the intersection of Pueblo Boulevard and Northern. According to a news release, the suspect shot the officer, who then fired back, hitting the suspect.
The officer was taken to St. Mary Corwin Hospital. The suspect died at the scene.
None of the names of those involved have been released. The Critical Incident Team will investigate, which is standard when an officer shoots a suspect. The Critical Incident Team has members from the Pueblo Police Department, Pueblo County Sheriff's Office, Colorado State Patrol and the 10th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
We'll have a live report at noon on News 5.
