A popular Pueblo Police Captain died yesterday while out for a jog in Pueblo West. It was ruled a natural death, but shocked law enforcement officers who knew Eddie Rhodes.
Rhodes was 55, and seemed fit. An autopsy performed Tuesday showed he died from a major blockage in an artery that resulted in a heart attack.
Rhodes started with the Pueblo Police Department in 1980. He was promoted to Captain in 1992.
A period of mourning has been declared at the police department. Officers will place a black marker over their badges until funeral services are held.
