Pueblo Police continue to investigate a fatal accident

Pueblo Police continue to investigate a fatal accident that happened Friday around 3:30 p.m. at Goodnight and Cleveland.

Police say the driver of a Honda SUV, 20-year-old Gabriel Archuleta failed to negotiate a curve when he lost control of the vehicle and collided head-on with a tree at the municipal park.

The passenger, 20-year-old Jacqueline Solano was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The other passenger 19-year-old Christy Arellano was transported to Parkview Hospital in critical condition.

Archuleta was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police say none of the vehicle occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Police say speed and alcohol may be a contributing factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing and charges are still pending. We will continue to track this story.
