Pueblo is home to the International B-24 Memorial Museum, dedicated to the WWII era aircraft. The museum displays photos, uniforms and other memorabilia, but doesn't have an actual B-24 plane. Now they're planning to go digging for one.
The Pueblo Historical Aircraft Society says B-17 and B-24 airplanes were reportedly buried near the Pueblo airport, when the land was used as an army base in the 1940s. The group is now searching for information on where the planes might be buried. Their goal is to uncover and restore the vintage aircraft, so they can be displayed at the museum.
The Pueblo Historical Aircraft Society manages the B-24 museum along with the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum located at 31001 Magnuson Ave. You can contact the Weisbrod Aircraft Museum at 719-948-9219.
