Students at Heaton Middle School in Pueblo don't have to go far to see the impact of renewable energy in their lives--they just have to step out the classroom door. A 40 foot wind turbine was installed at their school Thursday.

This is just the first step in the greening of Heaton--the school will also receive a photovoltaic solar array, a greenhouse, xeriscape garden and more. All of this is being paid for with a $107,000 grant from the StEPP Foundation. Teachers will receive special training to incorporate everything into their curriculum.
