Pueblo man thrown from motorcycle in accident on the Mesa

A Pueblo man was seriously injured after being thrown from his motorcycle during an accident along the US HWY 50 bypass Monday night. State troopers say Daniel McClure, 50, was heading west at around 5:10 p.m. when a Ford F-350 pickup driven by Steven Fry, 36, turned in front of him.

The accident happened about 4 miles east of Pueblo. Troopers believe Fry was turning into the parking lot of Shorty's Backyard Bar and Grill.

McClure was riding a 1936 Indian motorcycle that hit the right rear portion of the truck. Troopers say the bike traveled about a quarter of a mile farther along the road after the initial collision before McClure was ejected.

He was not wearing a helmet and was rushed to Parkview hospital where he was last listed as being in serious condition.

Fry was arrested and booked at the Pueblo County Jail on unspecified charges. Troopers suspect alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident.
