Pueblo man identified after car rolled into ravine

The Pueblo County coroner has identified the man killed in a Friday morning crash at the intersection of Highway 50 and Pueblo Boulevard.

63-year-old Sammie Decker was pronounced dead on scene, his autopsy is still pending.

The crash was reported around 10:45 a.m. Witnesses say the 2005 red Suzuki hatchback, driven by Decker, was traveling northbound on Pueblo Boulevard when it veered into the southbound lane as it approached the intersection of Highway 50. Decker then drove into a dirt area, crossed the eastbound lanes of Highway 50 and rolled into a ravine, according to CSP. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Investigators say Decker was ejected as the vehicle became airborne and rolled end-over-end into the ravine, which was estimated to be about 18 feet deep. He was the only person inside that car.

Troopers tell News 5 the victim was not restrained at the time of the crash. Right now they do not have an indication of speed.
