The driver of a truck involved in a Saturday night car accident, killing three teenage girls in Pueblo, has been booked into jail on several charges, including driving under the influence.

Police say the teenagers died at the scene. They were in a car turning west onto Northern Ave. from Pueblo Blvd. around nine p.m. Saturday. The car was hit by a truck heading south on Pueblo Blvd. Pueblo police say the truck was moving at an excessive speed and they believe the driver had been drinking.

Gilbert Sanchez of Pueblo, the driver of the truck, was taken into custody on charges of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, and driving under the influence.

Two juveniles in the truck with Sanchez were ejected from the vehicle; they were both treated for serious injuries, one of them had to be flown to Denver for additional treatment.

Identities of the victims have not been released.
