The Pueblo Library District reports a huge increase in visitors in the first two months of 2010. Compared with last year, visits are up 24 percent.
Books and other items checked out have increased by a whopping 38.5 percent when compared with the first two months of 2009. The sour economy probably plays a part, since most items are free for check out. But 2009 was also a record year.
Also, the Pueblo West library was enlarged last year and a satellite library outlet opened at the new YMCA.
Participation at library events also drastically increased -- up by 73 percent for the first two months of the year.
