Pueblo foster parents charged with child abuse, child in critical condition

PUEBLO - Two foster parents have been arrested and charged with child abuse after a 2-year old girl was taken to the hospital for a brain injury.  According to Pueblo Police, emergency crews were called to the 300 block of E. Orman Avenue Thursday afternoon for a child who had fallen down the stairs and was unresponsive.  The ER doctor told officers that the child had a brain bleed and injuries to her face and eyes.  She also had extensive bruising to her buttocks.  The girl was flown to a Colorado Springs hospital and remains in critical condition.

Investigators spoke to the girls foster parents, 23 year-old Sarah Finn and 36 year-old Paul Finn, who were in the process of adopting the child.  Police say the couple repeatedly changed their stories about what happened.  Armed with a warrant, police searched their home for evidence of child abuse.

Police did not say what was found at the home.

Sarah Finn was charged with child abuse reulting in serious bodily injury, a class three felony.

Paul Finn was charged with withholding proper medical care, a class 4 felony.

The Finns were booked into the Pueblo County Detention Center.
