The Pueblo Fire Department strongly suggests people stay out of the Arkansas River as it runs through Pueblo. On Tuesday afternoon the river was running at 5900 cubic feet per second at Moffat Street.

That level is extremely high and Fire Chief Chris Riley warns that the river at that level is dangerous. In addition to the water flow, large pieces of debri, including logs and branches have been washed down from higher elevations.

Local agencies are considering closing access to the Arkansas River temporarily through the City of Pueblo, and a decision on that may come as early as Wednesday..
