The Pueblo Salvation Army announced this afternoon that its emergency shelter for men will close on February 15 due to lack of funds.
The shelter, at 13th and Elizabeth, has typically stayed open from November through March because night temperatures usually drop below freezing. But revenue is down and the Salvation Army plans to close the facility early unless more money comes in.
Captain Harold Laubach estimated it would take $7400 to keep it open until April 1. He said an average of 23 men stay there each night.
Donations are being accepted at 719 543-3656.
