Pueblo County Commissioners have appointed an Interim Director of the newly created Department of Engineering and Public Works. The county's current senior engineer Alfred Randall is now in charge of that department.

Last month, commissioners changed the department from "Public Works" to "Engineering and Public Works". Commissioners said they wanted a civil engineer to run the department.

Greg Severance was the former director of public works. Commissioners say he wasn't eligible to run the new department because he wasn't a civil engineer. In January, Commissioner John Cordova told News First 5 Severance could stay on the job until a new director was appointed.

Now word yet on whether Severance is still employed by Pueblo County.
