The Pueblo City Schools Board of Education unanimously approved two major contracts Thursday morning--a two year deal with teachers, and a three-year pact with new superintendent Kathy West.

Union teachers approved the contract in a vote last week. The teachers received a 2.2% pay increase for the first year of their contract. "I'm very satisfied with the agreement and so are the teachers," said Carole Partin, President of the Pueblo Education Association. "We voted last week, and (the teachers) voted overwhelmingly to support this agreement. Basically what we were asking for is the same pay raise every other employee in the district got and that is what we received. We also asked for an additional 90 minutes a month for teachers to work in their classrooms," she added.

Superintendent Kathy West, a homegrown administrator, will receive $185,000 per year.
