Today was the last Sunday address for Pope Benedict XVI.

It was a bittersweet day for many Catholics around the world.

Those in Pueblo tell us they understand the Pope's decision.

They add they respect him and know he has his reasons.

Now, they look forward to the future.

"It's not only the human person who serves as a Pope, but an image, the delegation of Jesus through the Apostolic succession that we have and we respect and walk, so I'm excited to have a new Pope," said Father Tomas Carvajal of Holy Family Catholic Church. "I'm pretty sure many Catholics in the world are the same way, waiting for a new one."

Many are shocked by this historic moment.

The pope officially retires on Thursday.
