The Pueblo Fire Department has been awarded a $2.734 million FEMA DHS Fire Station Construction Stimulus Program Grant.

The money will be used to build a replacement for Fire Station #4. St Mary Corwin Medical Center recently donated the land for the new Station 4, to be located at 2201 Lake Avenue, near the hospital and the developing Lake Minnequa Park.

Fewer than 100 fire department across the country received the grants. "This was no easy task for our grant team. Competition was tremendous. This is an exciting time for our city and department as we prepare to build our two newest stations, 4 and 9,"said Pueblo Fire Chief Chris Riley.

Fire Station 9 on Surfwood Lane is currently under construction.
