The Colorado Springs Parks and Recreation Department has announced longer year-round hours for motorized and non-motorized boating at Prospect Lake in Memorial Park. However, open water swimming is still prohibited and the beach and swim area will stay closed this summer.

Motorboats and jet skis can be on the lake Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and weekends until 3:00 p.m. Only wake-less, or non-motorized watercraft will be allowed on Tuesdays and Thursdays and after 3:00 p.m. on weekends. The lake is closed to all watercraft after sunset.

Permits are required for all watercraft using Prospect Lake and can be purchased at Sertich Ice Center, 1705 East Pikes Peak Avenue. Fees range from $50 - $225 and applicants must bring their registration, insurance and boating inspection form. Click here to download the city's watercraft user guide.
