BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - People caught hiring prostitutes in Colorado could be offered a chance to undergo a class on the impact of the sex trade.

Proposed legislation being considered by Colorado's district attorneys would give first-time solicitation suspects a chance to learn about the human cost of prostitution as a way to help prevent repeat offenses. Boulder District Attorney Stan Garnett says a group meeting Monday will discuss the proposal, including the effectiveness of such a class.

Classes would be modeled on a program offered in San Francisco and would be paid for through fees collected from offenders.
