The Colorado Division of Wildlife is trying to find the person responsible for illegally shooting a pronghorn buck in eastern El Paso County.
The animal was probably killed over the weekend of April15. It was found along Sweet Road just east of the Peyton Highway.
"The buck was discovered in a field about 150 yards off Sweet Road," said District Wildlife Manager Jeromy Huntington. "Only the horns were removed and the rest of the animal was left to rot."
The landowner has made a generous $1,000 donation to the Division's "Operation Game Thief" program in hopes that someone will come forward with information. "If anyone saw any suspicious activity or have has information that may be useful, please give us a call so we can catch whoever did this," Huntington said.
Anyone who saw any suspicious activity along Sweet Road is asked to contact Huntington at (719) 439-9638, the Colorado Springs DOW office at (719) 227-5200, or Operation Game Thief at 1-877-265-6648.
