Alumni continue work on preserving the history of Pueblo's oldest high school. The Centennial High School Alumni Foundation is building a courtyard on the east end of Centennial High School on Montview Ave.
The Gateway to the Legacy Project, as its called, will include more than 300 photos etched in stone. There will be pictures from every decade since the school first opened in 1876 at a different location.
The project, which started in 2001, is being entirely funded by private donations. People can help by purchasing items inside the courtyard, including bricks, benches, and poles. "They can include their family's names," said Don "Corky" Madrid, President of the Centennial High School Alumni Foundation.
The Alumni Foundation hopes to finish work on the courtyard by the end of summer. To make a donation contact Centennial High at 719-549-7337, or Don "Corky" Madrid at 719-560-0369
