Probation for woman who lied to duck jury duty

DENVER (AP) - A woman accused of pretending to be mentally ill to get out of jury duty in Denver has pleaded guilty to perjury.
Susan A. Cole showed up for jury duty in 2011 with her hair in curlers and wearing mismatched socks and shoes. She was dismissed after saying she had post-traumatic stress disorder. Months later, the judge heard her telling a radio show about how she had lied to get out of jury duty.
Cole pleaded guilty Tuesday in Denver to a felony charge of attempting to influence a public servant and a misdemeanor charge of second-degree perjury.
She received a two-year deferred judgment on the felony count and two years of probation on the misdemeanor count. She also must perform 40 hours of community service.
