Pro Football Camp teaches more than football

Three days of training camp in Colorado Springs finished up Thursday. Not the NFL, but the pro football youth camp.

Boys and girls of all ages took part in a skills camp at UCCS this week taught by coaches including current and former NFL players. Thursday, a Broncos Super Bowl winner gave direction and taught lessons. Justin Armour, a Colorado Springs native, played in the NFL for five years, and he was happy to pass along some of his knowledge to the campers.

"When I get the itch is when I'm trying to run a post route with an eight year old," said Armour. "This is one of the few environments where I can truly give back to kids. They look up to us. This camp is probably the premeire youth camp in Colorado Springs, by far. It's a tremendous combination of life lessons, and, you know, excellent football development."

"It was awesome," said Nico Clifton, a camp participant. "They talk to you about passing, catching, tackling, to be helpful, and never put your head down in life."

Current Denver Broncos linebacker Steven Johnson also coached at the camp this year.
